Coach Stefan Leitl’s team won 3-2 (1-0) in SV Sandhausen on Friday evening and moved up to third place. 96 won five of last six games.
Further down the table, Eintracht Braunschweig also confirmed the recent upward trend: they scored 2-1 (1-0) against Karlsruher SC, Eintracht moved out of the relegation zone for the first time this season. Anthony Ujah (44’/72′) was the decisive player on the wavelength, Marvin Wanitzek scored the equalizing goal (54′) Hannover more efficient
Cedric Teuchert (14th), Havard Nielsen (65th) and Sei Muroya (71st) beat Hannover. David Kinsombi (56th) converted a penalty for Sandhausen, which his brother Christian had won, and Bashkim Ajdini (73rd) ensured a thrilling finale.
Sandhausen played well, but Hannover was more efficient: Teuchert hit after a good move in the penalty area, Nielsen on top, Muroya with power. Referee Wolfgang Haslberger pointed to the spot twice within eight minutes for Christian Kinsomb’s foul, but he overturned the second decision after reviewing video footage.
