Long-term partnership signed with Major League Baseball – live on SPORT1+, SPORT1 Extra and free TV until 2026

Ismaning | New York, November 11, 2021 – “Take Me Out To The Ballgame!” – SPORT1 is the new “Home of Baseball” in German-speaking countries until 2026: Sport1 GmbH has acquired the platform-neutral rights in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the next five seasons from 2022 to 2026 from Major League Baseball (MLB) – with exclusive linear display rights on pay and free-to-air TV in Germany. At least 150 regular season games are broadcast per season on pay TV on SPORT1+ and on the multisport streaming platform SPORT1 Extra, launched in September, and at least 15 matches on free TV on SPORT1. Next year, the Main Series starts on the opening day of March 31 and lasts until October 2, 2022. All Star Game, next year on July 19 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and the Home Run Derby on July 18, also part of All-Star Week, will also be broadcast live on free-to-air television. In the postseason starting at the beginning of October – the crowning act of the Wild Card Round, Division Series, Championship Series and World Series – there will be at least 30 games on SPORT1+ and SPORT1 Extra. Select games will also be broadcast on free-to-air television during the playoffs, including at least two World Series games. A total of up to 500 matches during the season are broadcast live on SPORT1+, SPORT1 Extra and SPORT1’s free TV. In addition to live matches, the TV also shows the weekly highlight “MLB’s Best” and current highlights in “SPORT1 news”. SPORT1’s digital and social media channels also have an extensive overview with highlight clips.
