The jersey used by basketball legend Michael Jordan has been auctioned in New York for 10.1 million dollars (about ten million euros). The jersey set a new record for an athlete’s collectible at Thursday’s auction, auction house Sotheby’s said.

Jordan wore the Chicago Bulls number 23 red jersey in Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, where he won his sixth and final championship. Last year, Sotheby’s auctioned off Jordan’s basketball shoes for nearly $1.5 million.

The Jordan shirt broke the record price of the shirt worn by Argentine soccer star Diego Maradona last year. The shirt in which Maradona scored his legendary “Hand of God” goal in 1986 sold at auction for $8.6 million.
