Vienna Wanderers showed a clear reaction after Dornbirn’s opening defeat. Led by pitcher Peter Reyes, the regular season dominator responded with a 13-0 shutout win on Sunday. Reyes kept the Indians offense in check. As soon as the hit was successful, Vienna’s defense was there. On the other hand, Indians pitcher Shotaro Usui couldn’t find his usual rhythm. Jochen Pfister replaced Usui in the fifth set, which brought a strong new impetus, but he could not avoid defeat. Offensively for the Wanderers, Dominik Talir was particularly impressive, hitting the only home run of the game and accounting for a total of four RBIs.
The “best of five” final series continues on September 24 with two games and will be decided, if necessary, on September 25 at Spadlwiesen Ballpark at the latest.
